NEPA Known World
A Mystic is a type of warrior-monk. They live monastic lives, devoting themselves to philosophy and the mastery of his or her physical body. The Mystic trains to become a master of unarmed fighting. Like Clerics, all Mystics belong to orders but not all clerical orders have mystics. In the Known World, there are many orders. These orders are in turn divided into sects or cloisters, collections of mystics who believe in the same path to physical, mental and spiritual purity in their alignment. Mystics adventure to gain spiritual growth and to learn the lessons of life outside the cloister. They rarely adventure with other Mystics, preferring to attach themselves to adventuring parties which consist of many different types of adventurers.
Most Mystic orders resemble the Asian monk cultures of our world but may be found anywhere. There are few in Karameikos (one monastery is located north of Threshold and another in the mountains which divide the Grand Duchy from Thyatis) but other nations are home to many (Thyatis for instance).
Mystics are among the optional classes listed in the Rules Cyclopedia. For more details please see that rulebook.
