NEPA Known World
: Whenever a healing spell is cast in the midst of combat, the number of hit points cured is determined as per the spell description. However, when the spell is cast outside of combat and under more ideal conditions, the number of hit points is automatically the maximum allowed for that spell. For example, a cure light wounds spell cast in a cleric’s temple or while resting an inn automatically heals 7 points of damage.
This rule does not apply to magical items which heal. Such items always roll appropriate dice for effects.
: Any cleric, regardless of alignment, may convert any memorized spell to a healing spell of equal or lesser level during non-combat times. For instance, if the only spell Bart the Vicar has memorized is Purify Food and Water, yet Brogahn the Fighter has been wounded, Bart may decide to convert his Purify Food and Water to a Cure Light Wounds spell and cast it upon Brogahn after all combat has been completed. If one goblin still remains standing and attacking, Bart would be unable to cast and heal Brogahn.
